Dear Winter, (WC)

(Wendy Cabell, March 8, 2022, feast day of Our Lady of Virtues , the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign", and of (above) Saint John of God. Also International Women's Day. On Jewish calendar, today commemorates Moses' Last Day of Leadership (1273 BC). Image from here.)

Dear Winter,

(...from PIE *wend-, nasalized

form of root *wed- (1) "water; wet

-–etymonline)

Thee of tendriled snow,

fairy place, hand

on brow, fever shooshed–-

Oh most welcome guest!,

though seem part, still are

carried--cave for courage and

gathered breath (till we are Home).

Place to shelter flame, tend the soup.

Sort the mail. Catch up with the beloved.

When dry land appears, sigh–-clasped

hand. Foot unshod for ground,

                          Becoming
